SHA2016 is a ten-stop, two manual and pedal Rieger, the Hausorgel model (see main photo). It was installed in the summer of 2016 at the Shanghai Conservatory as a teaching instrument, in the same year that the Conservatory established Mainland China’s first major in organ performance.
This important development in organ education followed a week-long visit in 2015 by AGO president John Walker to the Conservatory. Master classes and lectures were given; and a recital was organized at that time on SHA2005, featuring music by Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, Franck, Fauré, Duruflé, and Messiaen, all performed by organ teachers Zhu Lei and Wu Dan, and four of their students.
